Education and Training

Bridges of Hope and Empowerment Sewing Class in Progress

Education promotes equality and lifts people out of poverty. It teaches children how to become good citizens. Education is not just for a privileged few, it is for everyone.

The lack of formal education is due to the lack of funds by parents and extreme poverty levels. Also, many children are being left as orphans due to the death of their parents by HIV/AIDS and lack of necessary resources to survive. Major problems include the following: Hunger, lack of school fees, books, uniforms, and sanitary towels for girls. The effects are immense and result in early marriages, drug abuse, other addictions, and the inability of individuals and families to become self-sustainable. Bridges of Hope and Empowerment International, Inc. desires to change this situation by providing basic education to the needy children, scholarships, school uniforms, school shoes, school stationery, sanitary and napkins for girls, and vocational training. These resources and programs will promote literacy, positive self-esteem, opportunities for employment, and self-sustainability.

The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will repay him for his good deed. (Proverbs 19:17)

Beneficiaries of the "One Plate One Mind," program are orphans, street children, the elderly, disabled, HIV/AIDS infected, and other vulnerable individuals. This program will concentrate on the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being of individuals in Kenya. This program will include access to nutritious food, biblically-based workshops, life-skills training, counseling, and mentorship. This program creates a community network and collaborative efforts which result in empowerment and self-sustainability.

Less Privileged Families

Supporting the less privileged family is also our main concern. It's because of them we do everything humanly possible to keep them smiling.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT

Bridges of Hope and Empowerment embarked on a community empowerment program by donating school uniforms and shoes to Kiwanja Primary School.

The programs offered in this area include collaboration with community officials, churches, health facilities, and institutions of higher learning in Kenya. The desired result is healthy living, financial independence, and reducing the cycle of poverty.
